Formula Ford competitor returns to roots
Even though Grenfell Club member Tom Sargent has moved on to Formula Ford after 9 years of Kart racing he regularly returns to his home track of Grenfell to help out running race meetings as a Junior Official.
However last weekend Tom was busy instead, helping several juniors with their Kart set up and driving technique. Passing on the skills he learned from many years of racing.
Tom was more than happy to spend a little extra time with newcomers to the sport and their first time to Grenfell Lewis Mataczyna and his Dad Henry from Canberra.
Young Lewis is facing challenges but this did not dampen his enthusiasm to get in his kart and enjoy himself.
Over the weekend Lewis jumped from strength to strength as he gained confidence and was skillfully guided by Tom’s knowledge of the circuit which he gladly passed on.
Father and Son drivers Christopher and Francois Joubert also from Canberra made their Grenfell debut, joining in the Grenfell spirit and camping overnight.
We hope to see both families back at Grenfell soon.
The Grenfell Club has a long tradition of promoting and fostering Junior drivers, particular at the popular, Bob Hinde Memorial and Festival of the Kids weekend held in July each year. So mark your calendar 7/8 July and don’t miss out this year.
