Become An Official

Becoming a volunteer official at kart race meetings can be an exciting and rewarding experience for motorsports enthusiasts. Our clubs can't run race meetings without the commitment and dedication of our volunteer officials.  Our Officials handbook below provides very comprehensive information on what is involved and the various roles available to a KNSW official. But here are some simple steps to get you started.

STep1

Or use your existing profile if you have one. Once you are logged in to you karting NSW portal profile, select "Add Licence" select the licence type that you wish (Steward, Clerk Of Course, Scrutineer) and follow the steps. You will be required to complete a knowledge quiz to get to the end of the process. Once this is complete your officials licence will be subject to KNSW approval

STep2

Reach out to your local club

Clubs are always in need of officials. Please let your local or any clubs you wish to attend know you would like to help. As a grade 4 official, most events will have more senior and experienced officials on hand to assist with your job and help you build the skills to move to a higher grade.

Keep you knowledge up to date

The Karting NSW rule book is avaialble here on the KNSW website, keep this close as a reference. If using the rule book on line, it has a great seach function to use for issues you wish to clarify.

Gain Experience

Gain Experience: Volunteer at kart race meetings to gain hands-on experience. Start by assisting experienced officials in various roles. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the duties and responsibilities of a karting official while learning from seasoned professionals.

Stay Updated

 Stay informed about rule changes, updates in race procedures, and advancements in karting technology by regularly consulting official rulebooks, attending meetings, and participating in continuing education opportunities. Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in the sport will ensure that you can effectively officiate kart races.

Maintain Professionalism and Integrity

As a volunteer official, it's essential to maintain professionalism and integrity at all times. Be fair, impartial, and consistent in your decisions, and always prioritise the safety of competitors and spectators.
