TAG Restricted Rule Update

  • May 11
  • 1 min read

TAG Restricted Rule C.8 has been updated via addendum effective 12th May 2026 to include

  1. Rotax SR4 restrictor may be used in TAG restricted with the addition of 7kg to the minimum weight limit.

  2. Iame 100 Reedjet may be used in all TAG Restricted competition

  3. TAG Restricted entrants must clearly display the minimum weight for their class and engine spec near the front number plate

The SR4 restrictor has been tested at 3 different KNSW tracks, using both new and older Rotax Evo engines. The intent of the weight added to a kart using the SR4 restrictor is to make the engine performance comparable to current KNSW spec TAG Restricted engines, removing the need to purchase a new restrictor if you do not want to. Testing was carried out with back to back tests on both SR4 and flat plate restrictor currently in use and with weight variations.

The changes will also give drivers of different weights more options to be competitive. For those that battle to get to the minimum weight limit, now you have another option.
